Hey everybody,

I took the liberty of creating a spreadsheet where you can post where you matched this year. I know we would all like to see where our friends from the interview trail matched. A lot of the other specialties do this as well.

I copied the spreadsheet from the one that was made last year. Please edit it if there have been any changes to your program or if any programs are left out.

I saw something similar on one of the urology sites. It's pretty nice to get an idea of the numbers involved in matching these days since charting outcomes is so old now.

It would be awesome to see where more of the people we all interviewed with repeatedly matched. Fill out the spreadsheet gang! Many more views than entries...

On that same note, it would be really helpful for us up and comers if more people could put their stats on the right in the spreadsheet. I am finishing up my second year and it is really great to see the step scores and how far down people went on the rank list. It is even more helpful now since Charting the Outcomes is not longer being printed. Thanks for any input and congratulations to all who matched this year!

The purpose of this spreadsheet is to inform the class of 2014 where their colleagues matched and that is it. Because this is not an anonymous spreadsheet, I suggest people refrain from posting stats. If you want to look at stats then look in the residency review thread. Furthermore, there is so much more that goes into your match outcome then your step 1 score so this isn't of much utility.

I don't understand how it's not anonymous? It worked for the urology folks just fine. Stats are by far the most important aspect of matching into a competitive specialty, regardless of how little people like to admit it. I think it's a useful endeavor.

@Blastoclast I feel like the stats are left pretty anonymous and people are just listing them in the order they post them one after another and there are way more names already than stats listed and they're not in line with the names in anyway. At least that's how I'm seeing it, which I could definitely be reading it wrong. As a 3rd year I appreciate this as there are people with similar numbers and other qualities specific to them and not just averages for every category, you can almost see how people made up for a lower number in some ways as well as seeing how many programs they applied to with similar numbers. I come from a school with no ortho department that discourages anyone who doesn't have the 240+ scores and AOA from even applying so these are the only types of references I have. I hope you can see from the point if view of students like myself and how much the numbers are truly appreciated and at least to me seem to be done so in an anonymous way.

I honestly overlooked the fact that they weren't lined up with names/programs. The way it is in the spreadsheet is anonymous. My bad. I can see how these stats are useful , I misunderstood.

I want to emphasize, though, that I personally know an applicant with <220 who matched (not home program, not a rotator) and another who interviewed at > 15 and didn't match. So, you need to be competitive but there are other subjective intangibles that also play an important role. My point is, work your butt off to kill boards, third year, aways but also don't be discouraged if you don't have a perfect application.

Just to clarify my prior post I did not intend for it to sound like I only wanted to to know Step 1 scores because there are so many other important factors that information pertaining is scarce. For example, I have a wife and a child so knowing how far down on a rank list people go is important for me when I rank my programs. That may be the difference in rank due to a better location and better schools. Also, seeing how many people took step 2 prior to applying and how many people waited. I appreciate any information and those who chose not to do so I understand.
