"Pass" in surgery, will it hurt?

Hello.

I just found out I got a "pass" (in a fail, pass, high pass, honors system) in general surgery 3rd year
clerkship. I am concerned about this since I want to do ortho. I did well on the ortho exam, however. I
think I just conflicted with the general surgery folks a bit too much.

My question is, do I need to worry about this at all? Will this prevent me from getting interviews?? I have
strong boards (252) and other grades (jun. aoa). I am sort of hoping those things will count more than
my clerkship grades, since they are pretty mediocre. Having said that, my evaluation are all positive, but I
have just struggled with the exams a bit. I am sure others are in the same boat.

Thoughts/opinions welcome.

I wouldn't worry about a single general surgery clerkship. You junior AOA status will speak loud enough
to all of the programs. At this point, you just need to do well the rest of this year and kick butt on your
ortho electives this summer to get great letters. Just don't have any conflicts with residents, staff, or
ancillary personal during your orthopedic electives or you will sink your own ship.
