Programs that Require Specific Letters

how are you supposed to get your friggin SAT score report and your MCAT scores sent?

first of all, how do you get them?

secondly, do you just upload them to ERAS?

Last year I got my ACT scores faxed from my highschool to the programs that wanted it.

I can't quite remember how I got my MCAT scores, but I think I remember having to make a couple phone calls to get them. I faxed them straight to the programs as well. Also, I took it when it was paper and pencil which made it a bit more difficult. A simple google search should help.

I didn't receive interviews from the places that wanted the ACT/SAT/MCAT scores. It might be because I just faxed them and they weren't loaded on ERAS. It's probably because getting interviews is tough and by ortho standards i'm pretty average.

The whole process is pretty ridiculous. I couples matched with my wife who is doing peds. The hoops I had to jump through compared to her were insane. It's worth it though, especially when the interviews start rolling in.

To get your MCAT score report:



Then click "Score Report Login" under Quick Links to the right. Log in and then click "Create and Print my own official score report".

Also, Case Western wants an undergrad transcript.

Albany Medical Center: step 2 scores
Duke: step 2 scores
greenville Hospital System: minimum of 210 on step 1
Henry Ford: LOR from PD or Chair
Hopkins: 4 LORs
Long Island Jewish: step 2 scores
Northwestern: LOR from chair
Medical University of South Carolina: LOR from chair
Thomas Jefferson: LOR from chair
Tufts: one LOR from NON-ORTHOPAEDIC SURGEON
UF Jacksonville: LOR from PD or chair
Yale: Refferee form from each LOR writer (get on their website)

Also Drexel's site says "Certified MCAT scores", so does printing out the score report in the previous link count as certified?

Another interesting note. When I was looking at UC San Diego's requirements a couple months back, I saw the undergrad transcript requirement too, but now as I am searching through their site: , they seem to have removed the requirement. Or am I missing something? If not then that is a huge load off my shoulders, because my undergrad was notorious for their unorganized admin services.

Yale, WashU, and University of Washington all require forms to be filled out by your letter writers, which are found on their websites.

Probably best to ask them how they want you to send it, but on the score report it has a link at the bottom that takes them to a site that certifies that it's real.

orlando requires step 2 to be finished early in order to get an interview invite. i think tulane does also.

I just asked Drexel if the online printout of my mcat score report was okay and this is what she said:

Dear XXXX, A copy of the MCAT printout will be sufficient. Thank you for your interest in our program.

How did you find out that Orlando wants Step II before interviews? I didn't see anything on the website.

Learned by experience last year. They are very candid about this at the interview.

On drexel's website it says they want two LORs. Of the programs I've got on my list they're the only one that says "2" rather than "2-3" or "2/3 or more" etc... They also recommend sending SAT and MCAT scores, so with specific instructions like that are those of you who are applying to Drexel only sending 2?

The Yale, UW and WashU forms are of questionable utility in my mind. While many LoR writers genuinely have known the applicant for years, most will have known the applicant for a few weeks or months at best. The comparisons, while providing candid information, are likely to be filled out be secretaries as the burden grows (ie there are 3 programs demanding this now, but when there are 10 from top-tier programs, what will we do?)

It seems to me that the initial burden is on the student but progressively this responsibility will shift to that of the evaluator - indeed, to some of the program directors that are instituting these requirements. Once a threshold is reached, these forms will either become useless (evaluators will not be the ones filling them out) or there will be a move towards standardization. In order for the latter to occur, the Ortho PDs need to work with ERAS or establish a separate LoR/eval system.

Also, vanderbilt requires these supplemental LOR forms.

Note: Yale's supplemental must be FAXED, its written small in the middle of the form and its easy to miss.

Duke: does NOT require step 2 scores to rank applicants. This is a myth, and I emailed the program coordinator and recieved the response that they do not require step 2 to be completed to rank applicants, but like them to have them in soon after that so it doesnt delay the start of residency.

I don't know what CSD refers to but the only school that requires the transcript on my list is Case Western.

This is an EXTREMELY helpful list of requirements. Any additions would be amazing!

So, is it pretty much accepted that faxing these extra requisites is the way to go?
