The program at Emory is awesome. I rotated there and really had a great experience. They have a great balance of private hospital surgery and down and dirty trauma hospital. They spend about 40% of there time at Grady hosp which is their trauma hospital. Its a lot of crazy car accident and shooting stuff with lots of operative experience even as an intern and definitely as a 2.
The other 60% is at emory hospital or their private surgery center. these places are both amazing and give the residents a great experience. THe best part of the program is how cool the attendings are. All of them are super nice and approachable and really love to teach and want the residents to learn as much as possible. The residents are all very cool and hang out a lot outside of work.
In terms of how hard it is to get in, the program has a reputation of favoring rotators and emory students. of their five residents per year, they generally take 1-2 emory students, 2-3 rotators, and then 1-2 of the 35-45 others they grant interviews to.
thats about all i know. its an awesome program and i encourage you to apply if you like atlanta and want a well bablanced program with very cool people.
