I'm currently a third-yr pursuing Ortho and am interested in taking a year off to do clinical orthopaedic research in Europe. I was wondering of any several month or year-long research opportunities that are available overseas and can provide some sort of funding (stipend, housing, etc). I looked into several programs applicable to med students here in the US (Fogarty, Howard Hughes, NIH, Whitaker and some others) but they only support students who will conduct research within the States. These programs have opportunities abroad but are not associated with any orthopaedic research.

Any type of research material would be great but I'm more inclined in sports medicine research (PRP injection, chondrocyte implantation, etc)

Any input would be very helpful --- contacts in Europe, previous similar experiences, programs/fellowships in Europe that are applicable to American med students.
