While we hope for the best news today, there will unfortunately be some who will not match into Orthopedics this year. Despite this circumstance, there are research opportunities that will significantly enhance your application.

Under the direction of Dr. Sporer and Paprosky at Rush Orthopedics you will be working on numerous clinical projects in the area of Total Joints Arthroplasty. They are primarily located at Central Dupage Hospital which is 30mi west of the city but is a Rush Affiliated Hospital. In this 1 year long position, you will work closely with the attendings, fellows, and other medical students.

At the moment it is unpaid but significant steps are being made to obtain funding.

In summary:

What: 1 year long Total Joints Research
Who: Dr. Sporer, Dr. Paprosky
Where: Central Dupage Hospital and Rush Orthopedics; Chicago, IL
When: Start June 1st week

Advantages:

1. Very flexible schedule
2. Was able to do as many aways as I wanted.
3. Was able to do work from home if I choose. Most of the data is available online.
4. Rush has their own statistician.
5. Great LORs from the people you work with.
6. Numerous publications
