As we are a couple months from the point where we start applying on VSAS for AIs, I was hoping to get some insight from you guys/gals who just did this a few months ago.

How many AIs do y'all apply for with the intent of being accepted for two? If you are a decent enough applicant, is it safe to assume that you can apply to two in March (or whenever apps open) and get them?

I'm asking because I am coming from the South and am trying to strategically place my aways (maybe one in the Southeast and one in the MW or NE). If we can essentially pick our aways, this will be much simpler than if I have to apply broadly and hope for the best.

Thanks,
Orthononymous

I applied to one in the southeast, one in the midwest, and one in the northeast with the intention of doing 2 aways. Southeast and Midwest got back to me first so I withdrew the Northeast app.

I think applied to 5 total...it's usually a first come, first serve thing so make sure you have stuff in, which includes the dreaded N-90 or whatever mask fit test. I only got rejected from UT-Chattanooga because I accepted UT-Memphis (Campbell Clinic); HOWEVER when I rotated there a student got both UT campus locations because he basically called them and stated that he would like to rotate at both locations (his wife/finacee's family lives in Tennessee or something along those lines)
