For those who have taken Step 2...how much study time did you take for CK? I'm thinking of using my 2 weeks off betw. end of 3rd year and beginning of 4th year to study and take CK. Studied 5 weeks for Step 1 and did pretty well. I've heard to study half as much for Step 2...what does everyone think? Thanks in advance.

I took ten days after 3rd year to study for step 2; took CS after 5 days (didn't study specifically for CS) and then took CK after the 10th. I did the exact same on CK as I did on step 1 (pretty well as you would say) and passed CS. Took the rest of the month for vacation. I think you have a great plan. I was VERY glad to get that nonsense over so I could concentrate on sub-I's and then relax for the rest of 4th year! Also, it was much easier since I had just done all the 3rd year rotations, taken shelf exams, etc... I don't remember half that stuff now!

I took 3.5 weeks on a light rotation. Studied about 3-4 hrs a day M-F and 5-6 hours on the weekends.

I just did all of USMLE World and then re-did the questions that I got wrong in my weaker subjects (ObGyn/Psych). FYI, there's more Ob/gyn and psych on the test than is represented on USMLE world (Less medicine).

I was very happy with my score after using that plan.

About 10 days-2 weeks is adequate for step 2. Its a little easier to take the test, because you know the routine....and the do or die pressure is taken off your shoulders....

I agree with previous advice.....its a general practice/fam test with a little surgery...so as an ortho guy you are at a disadvantage...so go over all the OB and general med guidelines///

THe Crush Book is very good power review.....First Aid is way too detailed.....read through Crush...do some questions and you will be fine....

For Step 3 use Crush as well its very concise and high yield....

The best joke I have heard
Study 2 months for step 1
study 2 weeks for step 2.
Bring a number 2 pencil to step 3. (Was funnier before it all became computerized.

Step 1: Don't screw this up as you only get one chance: take a month which most schools give you and get >230.

Step 2: Few care, but take a week of reviewing questions to get another >230.

Step 3: No one cares, so take as early as your state allows to PASS.

I took 3 weeks to study for CK and 1 week to "study" for CS.
