My experience there was great. It was an early rotation and I was able to impress people at later rotations with the practical skills I got there. You will definitely work hard on the trauma service, but you also see a lot of complex cases (especially gun/knife club) that are interesting.
If you end up there, it probably makes the most sense to split your time between trauma and sports with the PD.
Pros:
Friendly program that treated me very well as a student
Lots of cases, students can always scrub and actually do things
Great ER experience when on call - I got a lot of practice splinting, bandaging, doing washouts, etc that made me look smart later
Cons:
Pretty long hours and more work than I had at other programs while rotating
Definitely my most expensive rotation because of the NYC cost of living
