I have to chose between the two, as their interviews are the same dates. Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about the two programs?

Don't know anything about Syracuse but do know something about Beaumont. In my opinion, Beaumont is one of the strongest programs in the entire country. Here's why:

-It is a level-1 trauma center w/ tons of trauma. They have three young fellowship-trained traumatologists that very willing to teach--esp. those interested in trauma.

-At any given time during the week, there are 10-15+ ortho ORs being used. HSS and Mayo are the only two institutions that do more ortho surgery than Beaumont. There are many more cases than there are residents.

-They have multiple attendings in every subspecialty (2 peds, 2 tumor, 3 trauma, 1 shoulder, 3 hand, multiple joints, multiple spine, multiple sports, etc.)...all friendly and willing to teach.

-The facilities at Beaumont are top-notch. ORs are brand-new and state-of the art. ORs and ortho floor are in brand new $300 mill south tower. Must see it to believe it.

-The ancillary staff is motivated and helpful. e.g. ORs are turned over in around 20 mins.

-They have a brand-new biomechanics lab if research is your thing.

-Everyone at Beaumont (inc residents) is happy to be there. The hospital has tons of money and its employees are treated well.

-many more pluses

You should definitely check out Beaumont...

I agree with above. In addition, Syracuse is a program on the way DOWN!

would you be so kind as to justify why you think syracuse is on the way down? this is interesting as I have not heard much about what people think of this program. you can pm me if you dont want to broadcast, as I interviewed at syracuse and am personally interested.

thanks.
