Congrats to those who have already recieved interview offers...

I have a quick question for you folks...So when did you complete your home rotation and can you also give a rough estimate about the amount of time it takes your Dept. Chair to write his/her letter of rec? I am assuming that your app. has to be complete (ie. chairman's letter, dean's letter and other LOR's) before a program would offer you an inetrview. Is this assumption accurate?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Definitely not the Dean's letter, though I'm sure they're interested in seeing the Chairman's letter and other LOR.

Even though you're allowed to submit your section of the application starting Sept 1, usually its the LOR's which keep your app from being complete. The best thing to do is to ask around to the current 4th years to find out

1. who's a good letter to get (like known names, etc)
2. did they have to badger the LOR writer until the very last minute

A lot of variation occurs across the board. Some people will have the letter in a couple of weeks and others you'll be waiting months.
