So I have to choose between UTMB Galveston and UAB because of that lovely date 10 Jan.

Does anyone know about the state of the UTMB program after hurricane Ike? Has that majorly affected program (either good or bad)?

Can someone give the basic pros and cons of the programs in general, please?

UTMB has been hit hard by the storm. They have residents scattered across texas and it is uncertain how many residents they will be able to take this year. They have historically been a good program, but recent decreases in their patient load may be an issue. I would go to UAB if I were in your position.

Thank you. That's the kind of information I was looking for the repercussions of the hurricane. I had searched Galveston news, UTMB news, and the UTMB ortho website.

As a recent resident graduate of UAB...its currently at a highpoint...i.e....all sub-specialties well covered and lots of autonomy/volume. Great facilities and setup. Defintitely worth a look
