It's time a thread was started to address the specific topic of post-interview "activity" and what different programs are known to do. Which programs really "want" to get a thank-you letter? Whic programs need you to come for a second-look in order for you to match there? Which programs don't care? Which send letters? Who makes calls? etc...

Facts are good. Rumors are fine. Let's hear it all.

They sent 3 batches of invites. My batch had about 23 people. 19/23......not that encouraging. I also know people who definately got called and were not on the email list.

uhh..u know they interview around 80 people right? 19/80 invitations seems like it may look good for people on that list...obviously opinion

U of Rochester was a...we want to "reinforce" how nice it was to meet you and how the program would be a good fit. Not sure if this is generic. Nothing about ranking or matching in a certain percentile.

Just wondering - those who got a Rochester email - was this a ranked to match, highly ranked, ranked in top 10, etc. etc. etc. type email?

i got the email and was wondering the same thing. Counted 19 people on the email list and they were basically the same people on the original interview invite list. I dont think it's much.

yea the Utah letter may be generic. i got one too. Anything from west coast or boston programs or west coast?

Yeah...assumed they sent one to everybody but didn't know a lot of the other applicants so wanted to check.

Sounds like I'm probably in their top 30...

Just got a vague letter from Utah. Thinking about heading out west, but not sure if this is a standard letter they send everyone or if it indicates that I'm in the 'top 10' (as noted on earlier response on this thread). Anybody get a letter that was more specific, or anyone not get a letter?

Hate to cause a wild frenzy-I was just relaying what I had heard from a couple of people I know at the program. Obviously Jointdoc and I know different people that have different knowledge of where they stand on the rank list. Good luck to all...
