Dear medical student

Our collaborative research group is looking for a motivated individual to join us for a year in a NIH and American Geriatric Society funded study to investigate fracture healing in an animal model.

We are a diverse group of investigators including an MD-PhD orthopaedic trauma surgeon, a DVM-PhD veterinarian-scientist, and a veterinary surgeon-scientist, engineers, post-docs, graduate students, orthopaedic surgery residents, veterinary residents and undergraduates utilizing genetic animal models to study and enhance fracture healing. The primary PI is an orthopaedic trauma surgeon active in patient care, basic science and clinical research as well as medical student and resident education.

This position is ideal for those looking for an orthopaedic surgery residency position in the near future. Laboratory-based research experience is required. Strong work ethic and motivation a must. Position will include performance of small animal surgery in addition to standard tissue and molecular laboratory techniques. Opportunities to participate in clinical research and for interaction with residents and attendings in the orthopaedic department will also be available.

Candidate will matriculate with the University and be offered a stipend and health benefits similar to a full-time research specialist. We will expect a June 1 start date to ensure proper training.

If interested, please contact me directly with a cover letter and CV.

Sincerely,

Jaimo Ahn, MD, PhD
