The Center for Joint Preservation and Reconstruction at Lenox Hill Hospital/ Northwell Health invites all interested and qualified individuals to apply for an Orthopaedic Research Fellowship position, under the direction of Jose A. Rodriguez, MD.

 

This presents a unique opportunity to work with renowned faculty in the field of hip and knee reconstructive surgery, to assist with both retrospective studies and prospective/FDA trials of new devices, to gather and analyze data using excel and SPSS, to assist in study design from beginning to end, to attend and present work (podiums, posters, scientific exhibits, and surgical video) at regional, national and international conferences, as well as preparing study manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Past fellows have published multiple articles and presented at annual regional (EOA,SOA), National (AAOS, AAHKS) and International (ISTA, EFORT) meetings during the fellowship, to name a few.  We are proud to say that many of our past research fellows have gone on to match with success into an orthopaedic surgical residency.

Positions: This program is only offered to 1 person (We look for an ambitious person that is responsible and highly organized and motivated to become an outstanding orthopaedic surgeon in the future)

Duration: 2 year (Allows the student to submit numerous abstracts and manuscripts for the subsequent match year)

Where: Lenox Hill Hospital, 130 East 77th Street, New York, NY

When: Beginning on July 1st, 2016

Salary: This position offers an adequate research fellow salary


PREREQUISITE EDUCATIONAL LEVEL OR CREDENTIALS:
- Previous fellows have been medical graduates, residents, and physicians interested in conducting basic science and clinical research in the field of orthopedic surgery.   We will also consider select medical students (between 3rd and 4th year).


DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM 
- The position for this research fellowship will be a 2-year commitment. The fellow will work on research projects, primarily on a self-directed basis, with an emphasis on total joint reconstruction.
- The fellow will develop proficiency in the varied aspects of basic and clinical research including study design, IRB compliance, informed consent, patient recruitment, data collection, data analysis, statistics (Excel, SPSS), electronic and oral presentations, and manuscript preparation.
