Dr. Craig Della Valle and Dr. Denis Nam are seeking 3rd year medical students to apply for a Clinical Research Fellowship in Joint Reconstruction at Rush University Medical Center. This annual fellowship is awarded to a rising fourth-year medical student who has demonstrated interest in orthopedics and is a competitive future candidate for a residency in orthopedic surgery. This invaluable opportunity allows for a student to work closely with residents, fellows and other faculty at Rush.
Position Title: Clinical Research Fellow
Positions available: 1 (combined fellowship w/ Dr. Della Valle & Dr Nam)
Duration: 1 year
Where: Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush & Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, IL
When: Beginning approx June 2019
Salary: $36,000 with full health benefits
Responsibilities of the research assistant include:
- Enrolling patients in prospective clinical trials and keeping highly oragnized data collections.
- Attending surgery days and collecting intra-operative data on a weekly basis
- Tracking study patients and collecting post-operative follow up data during clinic.
- Working and improving skills with drafting/writing IRB proposals, writing research procotols and assisting in the writing of Joint Reconstruction abstracts, book chapters and potential podium talks.
- Attending weekly lectures and conferences with Rush orthopedic residents faculty.
