2022-2023 Brown University Spine Research Fellowship
HotDr. Alan Daniels is inviting an ambitious 3rd-year or an unmatched medical student to apply for a year-long research fellowship in the Department of Orthopaedic Spine Surgery at Brown University. The successful applicant will enhance his/her application for orthopaedic residency and be actively involved in research at a top academic institution.
Research fellows will receive an immerse and well-rounded experience in all aspects of the research process including roles in development of study questions, literature review, study design, IRB approvals, data collection, data analysis and interpretation, writing of manuscripts, and preparation of presentations. The position will allow the research fellow to work closely with students, research fellows, residents, and attendings within the spine department.
Duration: 1 year
Where: University Orthopedics & Brown University in Providence, RI
When: July 2022 (dates are flexible)
Salary: Annual salary of $35,000
Duties of the research coordinator will include:
-The main responsibility will be data collection and management of a departmental prospective database.
-Preparation, writing, and submission of manuscripts.
-Utilizing the Pearl Diver database.
-Attend the biweekly research meeting and coordinate with undergraduates, medical students, residents, and fellows at the Warren Alpert School of Medicine.
-Performs relevant literature reviews as needed.
-Provide a wide range of support in research administration, IRB management, grant proposal, and publication tracking.
Ideal characteristics of the coordinators should include:
-Motivation for a career in orthopedic surgery
-Strong oral and written communication skills
-Excellent organizational skills
-Ability to self-manage
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
-Experience with database research and statistical analysis software is helpful, but not necessary.
