Post-Doctorate Scholar – Bone Repair and Regenerative - Steadman Philippon Research Institute

Updated

This job positing is for a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Program for Bone Repair and Regenerative Therapeutics led by Dr. Chelsea Bahney. The long-term research goal of our group is to develop translationally relevant therapies or diagnostics that improve musculoskeletal health. My research focuses largely on the central process of endochondral ossification, which is the mechanism of indirect bone formation by which cartilage transforms into bone during embryonic development, postnatal growth, fracture healing, and osteoarthritis.

By studying the molecular and cellular mechanisms of endochondral ossification, the laboratory aims to develop novel therapeutic strategies that can promote fracture repair or inhibit osteoarthritis. By utilizing interdisciplinary techniques that capitalize on engineering and developmental biology the laboratory aims to solve problems that will have a direct and significant impact on human health. This position will conduct transdisciplinary research across multiple funded basic and translational projects aimed at improving clinical outcomes in fracture repair.

INSTITUTE OVERVIEW:

The Steadman Philippon Research Institute’s (SPRIs) Mission is unlocking the secrets of healing, finding cures, and enhancing lives through global leadership in regenerative medicine, scientific research, innovation, and education. SPRI is comprised of several distinct departments that are committed to enhancing patient lives and keeping people active. Scientists, researchers, and technicians not only conduct science within their departments, but also in collaborative, cross-disciplinary projects across the institute and with physicians at The Steadman Clinic. The result is a multifaceted research organization committed to team science. Scientists and researchers are underway on numerous projects, including clinical trials funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Defense (DoD) and industry, alongside federally funded preclinical projects and pilot programs sponsored by philanthropy. The team is led by Johnny Huard, PhD, who serves as Chief Scientific Officer of SPRI.

The Center for Regenerative and Personalized Medicine (CRPM) is one department at SPRI and includes several programs that investigate cellular science and regenerative medicine techniques and therapies. Each program is led by a Principal Investigator.
