Dr. Nathanael Heckmann, Adult Reconstruction Surgeon at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, invites US medical students to submit applications for an Arthroplasty Research Fellowship for the 2024-2025 academic year.

This is a funded position within a highly productive group, offering a great opportunity for students to publish high-volume, high-impact studies. Research fellows will also work closely in the clinic with attending orthopaedic surgeons, residents, fellows, and medical students. Our group boasts past fellows who have done well applying for residency.

Dr. Heckmann's research focuses on clinical outcomes following hip and knee arthroplasty with a particular interest in understanding the interrelationship between degenerative diseases of the spine and hip. His research is also focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of infections following hip and knee replacement surgery. Finally, a significant arm of research focuses on socioeconomics, specifically how insurance coverage can impact access to quality specialty care.
