Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush Research Position
Hot
The Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush adult reconstruction department is beginning recruitment for a 1 year research position. This is a great chance for 3rd or 4th year medical students or recent graduates to obtain valuable clinical research experience. If accepted, you will work with the adult reconstruction attendings and fellows as well as the Rush residents on their ongoing projects.
These include peer reviewed journal submissions, text book chapters, and
poster/podium presentations. The nature of this research is mainly
clinical outcome studies. This is currently an UNPAID internship;
however, significant steps have been made to obtain funding in the near
future. If you are interested please email
About me
I am a 4th year medical student from an east coast program. I went unmatched last year and like many decided upon a research year to improve my CV and gain orthopaedic research experience. I came in with very little research experience and was able to submit 3 JBJS articles, start 2 prospective randomized trials and will be giving a podium presentation at MAOA this year. If you are interested in a productive research year, this is a great opportunity. The attendings I work with have become my mentors and amazing advocates for me and my application. The staff is also very supportive, helpful, and friendly. I dont know my match status yet but I doubled my interviews from last year so something must have helped. I have also benefitted greatly from being able to attend resident didactics throughout the year and feel better prepared to be an intern. All in all, regardless of my pending match outcome, this has been a very positive year and I would recommend it to anyone interested in a research year.
