Congrats to those who matched this year...there was a similar 2004 post to this one where people listed there "credentials" (i.e. board scores, # of clinical honors, research (any), # of interviews and where they matched). Thought it would be nice to see where next year's future orthopods stand in relation to those who will blaze the trail b4 us...that is when you sober up of course...erin go braugh!

Honors: OB/Gyn, Psych
Applied to 80+ programs, 13 interviews, ranked all 13

12. Wright State
13. Hamot

Matched at #3, would have been happy with top 7.
My advice to those applying next year...
don't get bogged down with how many interviews you get, but do your best at each interview, and be yourself, answer honestly.

Feel free to PM me with questions about any of these programs. And PM me if you ended up at LIJ.

Unranked Midwest Private School
Junior AOA/AOA pres
Honors in majority of classes (not in Peds).
Step 1: 250
Step 2: 259 (taken after interviews)
Research in undergrad. Had some research started in M4 year, but still nothing from it. 0 pubs.
Stong personal statement with interesting life experience
Applied to: 60 (avoided big cities on East coast).
Interviews Offered: 39 (turned down 4 Cali programs, Mayo, 4 Texas programs, Virginia, WVU, Campbell, Miami, etc.) (never heard from Okla, Orlando, a couple in Chicago/Illinois, and some more.) (rejected by northwester, Vandy, WashU, Yale, Duke, USC, fort wayne Indiana, Arizona).
Interviews went on: 16
Ranked: 15 (did not rank Case - not interested in drawing straws to see if I will do a 6th year... no thanks. And, No. 1 in NIH $ isn't important to me).
ROL:
1. Utah - great program. Awesome new facilites. Residents and staff are amazing. Location for an outdoor enthusiast is unbelievable.
2. OHSU - close to home. program going to go through huge changes soon. Dr. Jung Yoo is great, but wants to turn this program around 180.
3. Nebraska/Creighton - close to school. Good residents. Nebraska is strong with attendings. Creighton is a let down.
4. Wisconsin - What a great program in a great town. Great lifestyle. Residents love it. Zdeblick is a resident advocate.
5. Univ of Washington - Big name. Very fellow heavy. Spend a ton of time at Harborview getting worked.
6. KU-Kansas City - nice midwest program. Young attending staff.
7. Iowa - Big name/reputation. VERY academic. interesting town.
8. MCoW - Great program. Iffy town. Benefits are unreal.
9. U Michigan - solid program. Under 1 roof. Strong sports. Ann Arbor is spendy for midwest.
10. Ohio State - solid program. Columbus, OH though?
11. Kalamazoo - community based. Round by your self. No sundays. small.
12. U Minnesota - big prgram, spread all over minneapolis. good name. great research available
13. Cinicinnati - work horse program. Strength here is Dr. Stern - unbelievable resident advocate, president of Hand.
14. Vermont - small and very far from home. solid staff.
15. Indiana - work horse program. Chairman situation has been iffy until this year with the new guy. iffy city.

Matched at No. 1 Utah.
