Although I haven't received any yet, I'm sure that we're all doomed to get a few. It might be helpful to everyone to start this thread along with the invitation thread.

Include the institution, the date you got it, & the method (email, snail-mail, etc).

I'll post mine as soon as I get em'

priapism and dawg,
This question has been haunting me since I began the morning ritual of checking my email for rejection letters about a month ago. If I were really such a strong candidate, then you would have interviewed me, wouldn't you? In order to shed light on this subject, I will quote today's rejection (davis) in the minds of the writers:

"Dear Applicant:

Your application for a residency position in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of California Davis has been reviewed because for some reason our staff neglected to notice your pitifully low step 1 score and direct it to the garbage immediately. Although you are a very competitive applicant for a family medicine residency, we are unable to extend an invitation to interview in a field that actualy requires you to work during medical school.

Thank you for your interest in our program, reading your application gave us the kind of laugh we really need this time of year! Please accept our best wishes for your continued education in the specialty of Orthopaedic Surgery, to provide our residents the opportunity to learn revision procedures.

Sincerely,

UCD

p.s. the "D" stands for "Denied!"

For those of you with tons of time on your hands that saw this post elsewhere on this site earlier, I apologize for the redundancy. I'm kinda slow, still figuring this website out.

perpetualp,
I am totaly with you wondering the same thing. My rejection from bu said my application was "strong", my rejection from harvard said "many outstanding applications, like yours..."
I wonder if I would have gotten the same rejection with a 200 step 1 and bottom quintile of my class.
I am actually thinking of calling one of the programs and asking them just for curiosity, can't hurt, they already rejected me.

But would it be encouraging to know that you were barely rejected or maybe more painful?

I have an informal survey to conduct. I was rejected from Arkansas last night, and kentucky.....both of the rejection emails made comments about despite haveing a very competitive/strong application they were not able to grant me an interview....

so my question is do places have different rejection emails they send people.....it wouldn't seem like everyone's rejection email would say "Congradulations on being such a strong candidate" ----so do places have diffecent levels of rejection emails....or do they say that to everyone to reduce the suicide/alcoholism rate amoung med students applying into ortho

I am taking step 2 tomorrow....so hope nothing comes my way.....might have to pay some homeless guy to check my email every 2 minutes...

PS...if i offened anyone with earlier posts I am sorry......I am talking to the guy above me and #9

In response to my application, the staff at the Medical College of Georgia respond, "Get him a body bag, yeeeaaaah" (Any Karate Kid fans?)

Seriously, who titles an email "Interview" in order to send a rejection. Why not eliminate all doubt and put it in the title. I almost had my calendar out to check dates. Damnit!

Deemed "unworthy" at Harvard this morning.

On a side note, I just cancelled Emory and Minnesota this AM if anyone wants to try and jump into their interview calender.

uconn...funniest rejection letter to date...

Thank you for sending your application to the University of Connecticut
Orthopaedic Residency Program. We had a very large number of applications
this year and a limited number of interviewing slots to fill thus the
screening process was time consuming and extremely difficult.

I am writing to report that the Selection Committee has submitted the names of
applicants selected to interview and the candidates have been notified. There
are no interview slots available at this time.

Again thank you. We wish you the very best in securing a position that offers
you the most beneficial opportunity to continue your medical training.

called denver, colorado and was told that the first set of invites have been sent out and if anyone doesn't accept then additional invites may go out (i.e. we are waitlisted currenlty) however the coordinator didn't really know where different applicants stood on the waitlist if one person should cancel etc....

Called Univ Florida Jacksonsville Campus and they are done too, lovely rejction letters to come via ERAS soon

Called Union Memorial in Baltimore have NOT sent out any invites yet and will notify around december 1

Called Georgetown, some invites extended and more to come as more apps are reviewed, estimated 2 weeks to notify.

Called Temple, No invites sent out yet, will send out both invites/rejections hopefully by 1st or 2nd week in december. Only interview date is jan 14th.

Called Allegheny in Pittsburgh, they are DONE.
