Program Review

Staff / Faculty / Chairman
The staff is great. We have big names if that is what you are looking for..... I.e Maloney, Schurman, Goodman for joints; Safran, Fanton, McAdams for sports; etc. Despite the big names, they are all great teachers. They are all willing to help you with any project you want....
Didactics / Teaching
We have grand rounds every Wed from 6:30 till 9:30. In addition there are XR rounds every Mon at Stanford and Teaching rounds at the vally every mon. The VA has a conference every Wed and random path reviews.
Operating Experience
This is the best part of our program. Although we have fellows you are usually one on one with an attending except on the arthritis service.
Clinic Experience
Excellent. Lots of teaching on Sports and Peds. The teaching at the Valley depends on the chiefs you have.
Research Opportunities
Abundant!!!!!!
Residents
All the residents are great. We all cover each other as needed.
Lifestyle
Our intern year is cush as we have a night float system. R2 year is a bit rough, but it will improve as we progress to R3-5 yrs
Location / Housing
Location=great; Housing=expensive
Limitations
Housing
Overall Rotation Experience / Conclusion
As a resident I think this is a great program. We have much more one on one operative experience with attendings than any other program. The only weakness is the cost of living in the bay area...

Qualification

I am a current resident of this program.
Date of Rotation
