Just a bit confused as to what programs have five and six year tracks that you rank separately. When I searched program web pages, the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Virginia seemed to state that they had 5 and 6 year tracks, which you could rank separately in the match.

On ERAS, however, neither had separate categorical and research tracks listed (i.e. the boxes you check after adding the programs to "My Programs"). Does anyone know what the deal is?

Check out the NRMP website also

if both a 5 and 6 year slot are not available in both ERAS and NRMP, then it is not a separate match, and whatever the program posted on their website is an error.

I know that some programs give a resident the option of taking a research year during the residency program. I some of these, the decision is made DURING the training, and therefore is not a separate application or a separate match. Others (Rochester, Pittsburgh), have designated spots that are a separate application/separate program to rank.
