Does anybody know of places that will house away rotators either for free or cheap.

Thanks

i think i remember seeing at some point that UT-Chattanooga puts you up in their housing for the month......other than that i don't recall anyone else doing it.....but i'm by no means an expert on the subject.

i think more important in the whole process if going to a place that you actually see yourself wanting to be a resident, regardless of cost for the month (within reason of course). both of my aways cost me a nice chunk of change either for lodging, or renting a car for the month, or whatever...but i wouldn't change either one of them. usually the program secretary at any given program can hook you up with a list of more affordable housing in the area, or at least give you a hint if such things exist.

general consensus is that you have the best chance of matching at a place you rotate, so pick them carefully and i think you'll find that being happy for 5 years at a place you like is far more important than saving the $1000 or so that you might spend for housing, etc while you rotate

of course that's just my $0.02

There are many programs that will put you up for free. One's I know of are Cleveland Clinic, CWRU, SUMMA, Akron General, and Monmouth NJ.
Many others have cheap housing.
I personally didn't use housing as a criterion for where I rotated, but if your trying to decide between several places it's a nice tie breaker.

As far as I can remember, CWRU doesn't put you up. I rotated there this fall and they sent a letter saying that I got the rotation and it included a phone number for I think the admissions office for the med school, where they had a list of people who rented out rooms for a month.

Do you remember that Verizon commercial where that kid is driving around the country and calling up people to stay at their place...

Uncle Saul ... I don't have the headgear anymore .... Sure I can stop by the pharmacy.

If you don't remember it sorry, but that is what aways can be like. In one of my aways I stayed with my ex-girlfriends, high school friend's, college roommate where I had a little aerobed and my suitcase in the corner of the living room and I took the bus to the hospital everyday. My other away I stayed with my sister's prom date (awkward?) and took a 40 minute subway everyday. I had a great time at both away rotations. So the moral is pick the away you want and either dig deep in your pockets or start calling everyone you know to try to get a hook up. If you put forth the effort good things will come...
