Does anybody know of any schools that don't required the 1 million / 3 million malpractice insurance for 4th yr externship application? I'm from Texas and our school only gives us 25,000/75,000.

Mayo will.
The only problem is their application deadline was April, 1st. I don't know if they are flexible on that or not.

Not sure if this will help you or not, it can at least let you know where you're less likely to be able to get an away without special arrangements; here are places that a friend at TCOM said DO generally require 1/3mill:
Cali, Arizona, New Mexico, Idaho, Iowa, Indianna, Florida, New York, Mass, Colorado, North Carolina, Virginia

However, she did have success at at least one program in Indiana with discussing the issue, and they waived the requirement. Apparently many of the programs she's contacted were not even aware that this is a problem (perhaps in the past before liability changes here in TX it was more of a "check the box" type thing...)
Granted, she is not applying for aways in ortho but I'm assuming that the decision to waive the req would be the same assuming it's not somewhere like HSS where the app is separate for ortho.

Hope that helps...good luck!!
