I haven't received an email or a call from a resident / attending at the institution where I matched. Is that normal? My derranged thought process is wondering if this is a slight...

I did receive an unpersonal coordinator / secretary email.

Your thoughts?

I consider myself lucky: two resident phone calls, two resident emails, phone call from coordinator. I thought it was pretty cool for them to do that, though I was completely wasted for the call. The majority of people I know haven't heard a thing, so I wouldn't worry about it.

I took it upon myself as a resident to email our new guys and say congrats, give them some info about where to live, $$, start date and my contact info for any questions........guys did it for me when I matched so I liked to return the favor...

It starts the feelings off on the right foot. Without it, I still have this derranged suspicion that they are saying, you mean this much too us now (very little) and that's the way its going to be for your 5 years here.

i've heard from several people in the program. it's nice, but i wouldn't expect it or read anything into the lack of contact.

although, most are probably wise to wait after the weekend. i have a friend, who matched in another specialty at another institution, tell his program director on the phone, "You're lucky to have gotten me."

the best part is that he has no recollection of this conversation. what a great way to start!
