I have heard good things about the program at Loma Linda University in California, but I do not have any first or second hand knowledge of the program. Please help with any reviews or opinions.

Thanks,

I interviewed there a couple of years ago and was impressed. It's a small program, but the residents were nice guys, getting decent fellowships and good operative experience. Loma Linda is a great spot in my opinion, a little hot in the summer for some "true" Cali people. I do remember that they had a nice little "take this drill and drill through this dot on the near cortex and hit this dot on the far cortex" room during interviews, but it was actually fun.

One interesting tidbit: the LL hospital is a 7th day adventist facility... so don't look to find ANY caffeine floating around the cafeteria. I think they dropped a few spots on my ROL for lack of Diet Coke

I interviewed there recently. I cannot imagine a better place for me to do ortho. I interviewed at UC Davis and gave it a 8.5/10. I gave Loma Linda a 9.5/10. It does not have the name or reputation of UC Davis, but it FIT me perfectly. 3 hospitals to train at, all within 15 minutes of each other. (a county hospital, VA, and LLU university setting)

Residents are friendly, Staff is friendly and the geographic location is great. Vegas, Palm Springs, Los Angeles, San Diego within easy driving distance.

Operative experience is strong, academics and oite scores are very, very good. Lot of responsibility. It does lack a high powered research component, but a motivated resident can become a leader in research and do as much as they want.

Seventh Day Adventist influence is a bonus for me. I am not an Adventist, but I like a well mannered group of people and program.

I would recommend this program to just about everyone.
