I have been trying for several weeks to narrow down which away rotations I should apply to and with the deadlines approaching have still been struggling with determining which ones to apply to. My fiance is in the military so our best chance of staying together would be San Antonio TX and the greater Washington DC area.

I was still thinking of applying to either Georgetown or University of Maryland, but I heard that the train to Philadelphia isn't that long of a commute so I was also considering these locations. Additionally I was thinking of applying to UT San Antonio. I'm originally from Pittsburgh so I'd love to apply there but see no chance of my fiance ever moving near there. Can anyone give me information on any program that would be reasonably close to DC. I plan on doing a fellowship in peds ortho after residency.

They are all on my list for applications. Currently I'm just trying to think of the two I'm applying for my away rotations in. I plan to apply to an away at UT San Antonio for one of them and in addition to that I'm thinking of which Maryland/ DC school to apply to. An intern I know well had a bad experience with Hopkins which is why they weren't on my list for an away rotation although I'd probably still apply there.

Research is important to me as well as being able to apply to a peds ortho fellowship. I'm currently finishing a year of basic science bone research.

All I keep hearing about GT is its very white collar and all I hear about Maryland is lots of trauma. No one who applied the year before me at my school applied to DC programs so what they heard is limited.
