As a previous US medical graduate looking to get into ortho, I'd like to do some rotations at ortho residency problems (for the obvious reasons: to make contacts, get LoRs, evaluate the programs, learn some ortho, etc.) Unfortunately, I've discovered in trying to set a few up that it is at least difficult and maybe impossible to get programs to accept anybody other than 4th year med students for this purpose. The reason typically given is the need for malpractice insurance coverage from a medical school, yet it should be possible for grads to secure their own malpractice coverage if this is really the issue. Are any of you aware of programs that have accepted medical grads for elective rotations in the past, or programs that you think would be open to the idea of having them now? Thanks.
