sorry if this is a little off topic - i am doing a couple of away rotations, and i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to find some reasonably priced housing for this time. do people mainly find a sublet on craigslist, or is there a resource out there i am not aware of?
Just be prepared to talk about anything on your CV. Also, a lot of the typical interview questions: "Tell me about yourself", "Why should we take you", "Where do you see yourself in 15 years", "What's one of your weaknesses", etc.
Ask the person or ortho dept administrative assistant who handles away applications at your site. They may have access to a housing list. Two of my aways provided a list of area temp housing that seemed to be circulated for medical students and residents. But I had to ask first.
I would say ask in person. Even if you aren't able to have a sit down formal meeting, asking in person is still the best route. If you ask, he may make time to meet with you which is another plus.
Speaking of aways... and more specifically asking for letters on your aways... what do you guys think about asking via email? I'd rather ask for a letter in person, but I'll be leaving soon and don't think I'll be able to meet with the attending before then. Just wondering how most people handle it.
