Looking to see if anyone knows of any high end programs that have given a spot to a non-trad. I'll be 40 when I apply. I have a strong profile (solid school, 254 step 1, research, probable AOA) but I know the age thing will work against me. I would like to do my subIs at a couple of high end programs just to see if I get lucky. West coast would be best but I'll go anywhere. Thanks!

One program I interviewed at that seemed to have several "older" non-trad applicants was Orlando Regional.

I matched, I am so grateful. That being said age was a big deal for me getting interviews I think. Those in my class with good grades but similar or lower Step I had 20+ interviews, where I had 14. Something to think about as I am 36.

Will say that I definitely felt out of place at Campbell Clinic, all the residents that I met were kids.

As for non trad friendly, that's a tough one. I think the smaller programs tend to be more non trad friendly but it's so competitive that most programs can get the pick of the littler and get youngsters as well.

As long as you're personable and work hard though I wouldn't worry about not matching, albeit I worried my ass off.

Stanford is non-trad friendly. I can't comment on other west coast programs bc I didn't rotate at any others.
