Help with Clinical Research Ideas was created by ozortho
To the Attendings out there,

I was wondering if any Orthopaedic Surgeons out there have ever had any ideas for interesting little clinical research projects/studies they they've wished one of their residents would do, but for whatever reason hasn't got off the ground. i.e I'm looking for a bit of help to come up some project ideas.

I'm at a busy Australian programme which is very operating-intensive but doesnt allow a huge amount of time for research but nevertheless we're expected to present at least 1 paper at a regional orthopaedic meeting.

I'd love some help to come up with some study ideas!

Many thanks.

In Australia orthopaedic surgeons are encouraged to be general orthopods with subspecialty "interests" but not to become true subspecialists - i.e. the same surgeon may be do a total knee replacement, followed by a rotator cuff repair, followed by a orif and bone graft to a scaphoid non union, followed by a bunion!
Therefore even though I have some personal interests I dont want to limit project ideas. I am looking for all and any "nice, easy, but clinically still ++ useful" project ideas!
