Thanks to all in this forum, especially Dr. Levine. I am currently attending a Caribbean school that is not well known and applying for transfer into a number of US schools.

As it stands, I earned a 239/99 on Step 1, and I honored my first and only rotation thus far, FM. The grading scales are H/HP/P/F. I have only 2 honors in basic sciences with mostly HP's and 3 P's, no failures. However, I did not get a bachelor's degree and performed poorly on the MCAT, thus the chances of me transferring are very, very slim.

I do not have any research under my belt because research, let alone away rotations, are very difficult to secure as a non-LCME student. Hence my efforts in transferring to an LCME school.

If I cannot gain acceptance into a US medical school, do I stand a chance at matching ortho at all? Even if I do make it into a US school, would the fact that I started out at a Caribbean school raise a red flag in the eyes of the PD's?

Replied by on topic I would say do everything
I would say do everything you possibly can to secure a spot at a US med school - not that it couldn't happen, but your chances are very, very, very slim at best to match ortho as a Carib. grad
