Business/health policy on application was created by anteaterexpress
Hello, I'm an MSIII applying to ortho in a couple of years. I'm in an MD/MBA program and my next two years will be split between business school and 4th year medical school. During my business school experience, I'll be doing some part time ortho research with my school's department.
I have seriously considered taking an additional year off before matching to do health policy research, either with the NIH, RWJ foundation, or other group. Will this extra time spent doing non-ortho research be seen as a problem on my application? Clearly health policy is a passion of mine, but I don't want it to get in the way of a successful ortho match.
Some personal info: 250 Step 1, honored half 3rd yr rotations incl. surgery, previous non-ortho publication; no basic science honors though.
