I've interviewed at a Community program that has a good regional reputation and I think I'll get a good education. I know I eventually want to work in academics. If you train at a community program is it a lot more difficult to get into academics? Would ranking this program high make it professional suicide for a person who KNOWS they want to eventually work at an academic center?

Where you get a job typically has more to do with where you do a fellowship than where you did your residency. That being said, however, your residency "reputation" does pull weight when being considered for jobs (either private practice or academics). There are many outstanding residencies, on the other hand, that are not "academic" but have great reputations and practices want to hire their graduates.

If you look at most academic faculty you will see that the majority do come from a more traditional academic background but certainly not all of them. If you want to pursue an academic job you're probably best served by doing a more academic residency since those contacts will help you in your fellowship pursuit and ultimately lead to more academic contacts during and after fellowship.
