Couch squatters

That sounds like a great idea. Good way to reduce the overburdening cost of all this.

I think it is a great idea as well, given that two nights in a "budget" hotel can still run around $100+ depending on the area. I would be more than willing to let people stay in my spare room if I could have the same in return. However, my question is how do we effectively match people who need a place to stay in a certain city on a specific day with those offering their couch/spare room on that day? One thing that I thought of would be to have those needing a place to stay post their city/dates under this thread, and then have anyone willing to let them stay PM them with their details. One problem I could see happening would be we end up with a ton of "couches wanted" posts that turns this thread into a cluster. Anyone have any other ideas or suggestions on how to set this up?

One other thing I wanted to add was I think it would be a good idea to have a few safeguards in place. To ensure it's not some random person, we should have the person requesting a place to stay verify themselves via PM or email with their school email and copy of their invitation letter to the person offering the place to stay. This peace of mind might encourage more people to get involved in offering a place.

thought I would give this a shot. Case interview this weekend - wondering if anyone would be willing to let me crash. I am not looking for much, a corner in your basement would be fine and a shower in the AM. Would be looking for friday night (11/6).

Would even give some money/12 pack/whatever. I would also be happy to host when interviewing at my school or at schools close to my school. Please private message/post here if could be a possibility.
