So after reading the rejections list, there's a few places that are notorious for being lazy/rude/unprofessional enough to not notify applicants that they've gotten the big thumbs down or just the finger. I thought it'd be nice to start a list dedicated to whom not to expect a Christmas card...

I still haven't heard anything from the Florida programs, the Illinois programs, or UTSW.

I'll assume silence from Michigan is a big GFY.

have you heard if vermont has more interview dates or something?

people have gotten interviews, and rejections; i have received neither.

interviews are this upcoming weekend, so i'm guessing i've been rejected. i tried calling a couple of days ago, and left a voice mail, but no return call

I say screw maryland. if I remember correctly, they had an early deadline of 10/15 and they can't get the invites out in time! i'm actually going to email them now to close my application b/c I really don't want to go to a program that handles their application process like this. they had to be the latest program to snend invitations for an early dec interview.

anyways, this brings up a new topic to consider, if you are a strong candidate and now have enough interviews. and some programs such as MD have yet to send out interview invitations for a date you know you don't want to go to, you may consider helping you fellow applicants by closing your application prior to invites being sent instead of just waiting to decline their offer. this way someone who would have been on the waitlist will get a 'first wave' invite. then again, there aren't too many programs left, but I have 3 in this situation which I will let them know. it will actually be nice to say: I reject you. I wonder whether they will still send me rejection letters just for the sake of it.

I talked to the coordinator at Maryland today. They divided the applications in half. One half has been reviewed and invitations sent for December 11. The other half is still to be reviewed, so having heard nothing yet is not necessarily a bad sign. Hope this helps.

so does the fact that I haven't heard from Maryland mean that while I haven't been cut from the team yet, I can only hope to make JV?

Also, has anyone that did not rotate at UTSW hear from them at all?

I emailed New Mexico this morning about it, and she emailed me back this afternoon confirming my first choice date. Not sure what the delay is/was all about.

Raven, i too sent in my email acceptance to new mexico and they haven't got back to me yet. might be worth a phone call, though i'm sure it's fine.

same thing has happened with albany, so i may call them as well if i don't hear in the next few days.

anyone else hear back from albany after they accepted an invite by email?

Hey guys, hey guys, can I join the Maryland team? Huh? Can I? Puh-leeeze?

Geez, they even called me to tell me that my app received a good score from the first reviewer.

And - my UC Irvine rejection was inappropriately addressed to a "Mr." As if one more rejection would add to my testicular girth...

Anyone hear back from New Mexico with an assigned interview date yet? I got my invite last week and sent in my preference for dates, but I haven't heard back yet. With my luck, they probably never got my e-mail and the slots probably filled.

I'm with you on the Maryland thing. I'm not sure what's going on down there, but I'm glad I'm not the only one

I contacted university south carolina, medical university south carolina, and medical college of georgia. They all said, we'll been sending out more invitations in the coming days and that "you're good but not good enough" notices will also be issued.

what's up with university of maryland? they were going to give invites before thanksgiving, the day after, yesterday, and then today. still no action. I predict that they will eventually give 3 interview waves. the first on dec 11, the second on jan8, and the third on mar17 2005.

From what I hear Northwestern offers a few interviews about every week throughout november and december. Unfortunately, I hear they pretty much match only their students and rotators. I guess this could be a good thing if your rotated their.

Anyword from Virginia anyone?
