A lot of people are now starting to get rejections (sucky as it may be) - and it's making more than a few (including myself) a little nervous/edgy.

Being a numbers guy, I thought I'd post some stats, just to give an example of another applicant. Maybe others will follow suit.

Total Apps: 60
Programs that have sent out interviews that I applied to: 12
Interview offers: 3 (25%)
Rotations that count as interviews: 2
Total Interviews: 5
Rejections: 2 (Wake, Med Coll of GA)
-I'm a pretty average applicant

Randomly posting this kind of stuff might help keep us all on pace with where we're at - so people don't have to continually ask, "How am I doing?"

As of 12/1:

step 1 240+
step 2 in January
AOA
1 ortho research project, 1 non-ortho research project, but no abstracts, presentations, or pubs
applied to 90( I have no home program and based on my offers, I don't regret applying to so many)
offers at 19
cancelled 4 due to purely schedule conflicts
rejected at 34(7 today)

My interview offers are all over the place in terms of region and prestige. I've been just as successful out West and East as I've been within my region(Midwest). I applied to a lot of programs, but if I had only applied to 40 including the 34 places I've been rejected, I'd be worse off right now. The programs I've been rejected at are varied enough in region and prestige, it could have very well happened like that.

Since I started the thread, I suppose I should update...

All H/HP first 2 years, H/HP(mostly) with 1 P in yrs 3/4. +Research. Non-AOA. High 230's on boards.

Total Apps: 60
Interview offers: 14 (two of which are from aways, one off wait list)
Cancellations: 3
Rejections: 30
Wait List: 4

Mostly midwest (my region) - but a few outliers. I'm hitting most of my "safety" programs and only hit two that are probably a stretch.

I have about 10 programs yet to hear from... so we'll see. I was hoping for a few more, but I'm pretty average, so I'm not too bummed having 11 scheduled.

So I posted in Oct. with 5 rej. not interviews
Step I 247
No AOA
Two presentations at Nat. conf. One submitted case report. (None Ortho)
Many HP pre-clinical, 1 H and 2 HP 3rd year
Lots of volunteer with AMA NAt. conferences/Research project being finished..

Programs applied #70
Interview offers = 10
Accepted 8.
Rejected by 35+ programs.
I am going to reject two tommorrow because I have three all on same day and cannot switch any of them.

I have 5 interview offers in my region ....two on one coast and one on the other coast. REJECTED By my main rotation in which I scored an Honors at. Not happy. Tis' Life.

I wonder if there is going to be a big rush of last minute interview offers as people cancel their interviews or it will be a slow, painful trickle of invitations.

my assumption will be a slow and painful trickle... but I shall take what I can get and be happy about it.

Sorry for bumping this thread, but from reading it, it appears that I shouldn't fret about the number of interviews I have until early to mid december. A lot of folks who posted in this thread in early nov. 2009 with 0-3 interviews had 10+ interviews by mid december. Thanks for all of your honesty in posting!
