Planning for next year and just wanted to get some advice from all those cagey veterans. I have nothing scheduled for december and january so that i'll be free to interview/possibly study for and take step 2, but im wondering if i should also keep february light. Are there a lot of programs that interview in february? Ive searched the forum and really havent seen any mention on this topic. thanks for any info.

check this prior posting regarding feb interviews:

i wouldn't recommend taking two months completely off as that will just delay when you finish your fourth year. i took dec off and then did a research month in january as this gave me a lot of flexibility. Because i took that month off, though, i won't finish until the end of april. i have some friends who are already done and it is painful to see them not having to go in anymore.

unless you are planning on doing a ton of interviews as i did (>20) because of the couple's match, you should be able to interview during easy rotations and not waste that time on vacation. many interviews are on sat so you won't miss anything then anyways.

I agree with IronDoc. At my school, we had 4 months off during 4th year. I already had to give up one of those months for an Ortho away, becuase my school would only count two months (of my 3) for credit. I ended up doing a really easy rotation during December (anatomy TA) and took January off, while still having April and May off.
