I appreciate your optimism Survivor. I am just realying the information that was passed on to me. I am not predicting your demise, but I have seen the applications of a few of your residents for our program. That leads me to believe that it is not as definite as you imply. Good luck with your review. I certainly don't want to see any programs crumble, or residents upended. I though Fort Wayne was a very solid program when I interviewed, it may not have the histroy of Wayne, but it would be a loss to the orthopaedic community.
When I was I was on the interview trail, I had a few program directors comment that the RRC was interested in condesning orthopaedic education and the first programs to go would be the smaller community places and those places with financial hardship. I wonder if we are starting to see their predictions come true with the current situation. It would be unfortunate if the goal of the RRC is to have every orthopaedist train at a majhor academic institution. 90-95% of us will be in private practice and will likley get a more realistic approach to orthopaedics away from the ivory tower.
