Guys,
I have been doing research at a prestigious institute for past one year and have not matched this year. I am a IMG and I knw the road is tough . I am open for a research spot available any place in the country where I would atleast have a shot at the residency program ( the place i work is not soo receptive) . Please let me know if any of you are in the same boat ( hopefully not ) and also let me know if you know of any research spots available.
Thank you
sincerely

Well vamsi,
Welcome to the land of pain, I'm pretty much in the same situation than you, so I know how you feel.
I'm sorry, but I do not have any information that can really help us.... is hard to find a place that have the money to pay a research fellow, and are willing to go through all the visa paperwork.

What I have been told is that usually takes 3 or 4 years of work to get a spot in an american program, because you need to build up your "american CV", as you probably know already, everything that you did in your home country is pretty much worthless for the american program.

Sorry that this reply do not help you in anyway... but if the goel is to get inside an american program, be prepared to expend, at least 2-3 years (I'm probably short in that prediction), with no guaranty? and probably you will have to go back to do your training at your home country or try in a non surgical-primary care type, that are more open to the FMG.
