Hello and congrats to all who matched this year. I am a 4th year student from a Carribean school wanting to do ortho next year. I was just wondering if anyone knew if any IMG got into their program. And if you guys have any advice on how i can better my chances of getting in. I have okay step I scores (low 90s) and have some research experience. I am also planning to get my name on a paper before interviews. I am looking to do my subI in the sept, oct or nov. If anyone has ideas where i can do that to increase my chances of getting in, i would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

According to the number of US students that matched into Orthopaedics is 548. This is out of 588 spots, meaning 40 were taken by non-US. Sounds like your chances are reasonable.

Do your best in those 3 months. Note that Nov is a bit late for an externship. You may want to make sure that the PD is well aware that your application belongs to someone conducting an externship so they may not reject it during that month.

Good Luck

img in orthoapedics
"this year 40 people ",thats a big number. according to freida only 1.7 % of the total ortho residents are img .that is out 3000.
this 40 includes us medical students trying out second and third time as independent applicants
i think only 8-9 img get into ortho
this includes candians , carriabeans and then rest of the world
