i did an away at iowa. not sure they have as many rotators compared to some of the programs i have visited, so probably wont be that hard to get the time/service you want. it was a great experience and will increase your chances of matching if you do well. big names in all specialties, but trauma, joints, and peds services seem most sought after in terms of getting a letter.
the other programs you listed have great reputations and are difficult to get interviews. i didnt apply to them since they have a ridiculous supplemental form your letter writers are supposed to fill out (as if the letter isn't enough). if you plan on applying to them, give your letter writers these forms when you give them your CV, ERAS waiver, etc. by the way, iowa requests your undergrad transcripts.
these are probably all good places to rotate at... if i had to choose b/t them, i would probably do so based mostly on geography.
not sure about lodging. i stayed with a buddy from college. ask the secretary contact and get their recs about what to do.
