Keep in mind that this list is a list of medical schools in terms of reseach funding earmarked to the orthopaedic department of that school. This list does not include independent hospitals, nor does it include medical schools whose Orthopaedics division is within the Surgery Department. Also, this is only NIH dollars, not total research money (something that would be very hard to tally).

This list is notably deficient of a lot of major Orthopaedic research institutions. With all due respect, I find it very hard to believe that Loyola and Stony Brook get more Orthopaedic funding than HSS, HJD, Duke, or Mayo.
