To Whom it may concern:
I am pleased to announce a unique opportunity for unmatched graduating medical students to partake in a one-year orthopaedic surgery sports medicine fellowship in Staten Island, New York, NY. The Staten Island Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Arthroscopic Fellowship is an AANA-accredited sports medicine fellowship which has been in existence for 17 years. This coming academic year, July 2008-June 2009, we have not yet selected an orthopaedic sports medicine fellow, so we are opening up the application pool to include graduating medical students. Any graduating medical student who is not matched to a residency program for the coming year may apply.
This is a great opportunity to learn cutting-edge operative surgical techniques and gain clinical and research experience in sports medicine. Many of my fellows have had great success in completing research projects that they eventually presented at national and regional conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals. The position is a paid position with an annual salary of approximately $53,000. I have had success with helping fellows who had not yet matched to an orthopaedic surgery residency program match in the subsequent year. These fellows matched to competitive orthopaedic surgery residency programs after completing their one year of fellowship training with me.
If you are interested in applying for the Staten Island Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Arthroscopic Fellowship, please send the the following information to my attention: 1) Curriculum Vitae, 2) Letter of Intent, 3) USMLE Step 1 & 2 Scores, and 4) Two Letters of Recommendation from physicians with whom you have worked, preferably orthopaedic surgeons.
You may email the aforementioned information to me at [url=mailto]
