The same can be said for UT.
Based on my experience, I would say it's a very underrated program. They operate a ton, with 50% of the cases on the OR board being ortho on an average day. Recently they constructed a new outpatient surgery facility, and a new clinical center was finished within the past year. Also within the past year a new sports attending was hired, and there's talk of hiring more faculty as well.
The only subspecialty that isn't well covered at the university hospital is peds. Most of the bread-and-butter stuff is found at the community hospital the residents rotate at, and the complex deformity type is found at the Shriners in Lexington. While it's four hours away, you won't hear a single bad thing from a resident about this experience.
The worst thing about the program is Toledo, OH. It is very affordable and a good place to raise a family, however.
