USC says I'm qualified for an orthopaedic training program...just not theirs. A kind email otherwise.

got the spurt of emails this afternoon as well.
Columbia and FL don't like me any better.

And in an email with the curious subject heading "Happy Thanksgiving, you suck!" Columbia tells me "No chance you're coming to NYC you stupid Midwesterner"

On a more humane note, Boston U tells me, "Be thankful that we didn't outright deny you an interview spot - you may get one if other smarter people decide not to grace us with their presence"

So in summary:
Denied by Columbia
Almost denied by Boston

Got this email from 5, yes that's 5 programs all within 2 hours times.
These were the kind programs who were nice enough to deliver the bad news just before Thanksgiving:

And the day ain't over yet, I bet I'll get at 2 more.

I hope everyone else is doing much better than this!

Duke and CMC were kind enough to give me the thumbs down today. To which I wrote them back the following:

Dear Chairman and Program Director,

Thank you for your kind letter. After careful consideration, I regret to inform you that I am unable to accept your refusal to offer me an interview at your program.

I have been particularly fortunate in receiving an unusually large number of rejections from many prestigious institutions. With such a varied and promising field of programs, it is impossible for me to accept all refusals. Despite your program's oustanding qualifications and previous experience in rejecting applicants, I find that your rejection does not meet my needs at this time. Therefore, I will be visiting your program to interview during the next scheduled interview date.

I look forward to seeing you then.

Decided to bite my lip and make some calls today:

UMich -- all our offers are out. please try again next year.
Jefferson -- all our offers are out, but in the odd chance that a significant number of applicants get the plague, we reserve the right to call you later
Campbell Clinic -- very nicely explained that my credentials were almost up to their standards, but wishes me the best of luck ... elsewhere.

Called UMDNJ-RWJ for app status - told that "the list has been finalized and you are not on it." Not kidding. Evidently, I wasn't worth a mass e-mail. Maybe I should call the other 40 programs I'm waiting to hear from...
