Although I haven't received any yet, I'm sure that we're all doomed to get a few. I thought it might be helpful to everyone to start this thread along with the invitation thread... a good way to tell these programs "GFY"

And Duke later on in the day (11/22), completing my complete rejection by the state of North Carolina. Fine, I didn't want to live there anyway

Case Western said "uh ....... no" via snail-mail today.

Bonehead - I agree, this seems to be very regional. Most of my offers have been from the northeast, so far. I've pretty much been shot down by the midwest and most of the south.

Indiana University today via the postman. Anyone else finding this whole thing to be VERY regional. I had heard the rumors, but I just can't seem to get above the Mason Dixon line. I would just like to say that not all of us down here are rednecks.

Spardi,
Even if I wasn't as jaded about this whole process as I am at this moment, I would find that kind of action to be BS. I also find it very unprofessional. I couldn't agree with you sentiment any more. Keep up the fight.

Hey,

I contacted U of Michigan and Tulane today cause I hadn't heard from them yet. These two programs are so full of themselves that they don't find it necessary to notify any of their applicants except for those who are extended interviews. They told me that they get TOO many applications and don't have time to send regret emails.

I say F__K U to that! I spent the time to apply to your program, the least u could do is send a courtesy no thanks email.

Just a thought, how do u guys feel about that?

contacted Duke 2 days ago and woke up to an official rejection to my personal email. Not sure if contacting them caused me to get the boot or whether I had already gotten the boot and just wasn't told. either way, at least I now know where i stand with them.

Has anyone gotten a rejection letter from Pittsburgh? Or can we assume that if we haven't been offered an interview, we won't be offered an interview? I'm still waiting to hear, and am just trying to make travel plans.

got the boot from UMKC, and LSU New Orleans.... not stressed though. Can't believe how different each program must go through their criteria.

I asked a program if it makes a difference that I was given an interview in the 'second wave'- they said 'no'.

YOu just don't get your preference for a date.

When you are being interviewed, I don't think the interviewers have any idea of who was "first wave," "second wave," etc. I originally didn't get an interview offer from Cinci for 11/6, but contacted them regarding my desire to interview on that date because my fiancee was interviewing at Cinci on 11/5. They ended up giving me the interview and when I thanked Dr Stern (the chairman) for taking a second look at my application, he said he wasn't aware (or maybe didn't remember) that I was not in the original pool of candidates offered an interview for 11/6. I assume it is similar at other programs.

If it is a good interview and you are interested in the program, go for it.
